E3 Metals provides an update on the development of DLE technology

CALGARY, AB, Dec 1 2020 / CNW / – E3 METALS CORP. (TSXV: ETMC) (FSE: OU7A) (OTC: EEMMF) (the “Company” or “E3 Metals”), an emerging lithium developer and a leading innovator in lithium mining technology, announced today an update on the development of its direct lithium mining (“DLE”) technology.

E3 Metals technical experts, who have worked directly with the Livent technical team, continue to work on the completion of the process design work of our wholly and exclusively owned DLE technology. The team is in the advanced stages of material synthesis and is continuing the design and testing work of the flow system already underway. A flow system simulates a real environment and is the precursor of a future pilot plant in the field. Additionally, throughput testing will help develop a better understanding of the process operating conditions of DLE technology. These operating conditions will describe what the process will look like in a pilot plant environment, and in turn, a commercial installation. This flow test work brings together multiple improvements to the process and sorbent over the past year, some of which are more specifically described in our press releases dated March 11, 2020 and November 3, 2020.

The Calgary the test facility will be open in early 2021 and work will continue on the construction and operation of a pilot plant in the field to fully demonstrate the capabilities and effectiveness of DLE’s technology. E3 Metals. E3 Metal’s team of technical experts have benefited from the collaboration with Livent and are ready to move on to the next phase, advancing our flow system test work. This will directly lead to the design and construction of the field pilot plant that will be used to test the Company’s DLE technology at a pre-commercial scale, which is expected to be operational in 2021. The field pilot plant is expected to cost about CAD 3.0 million and will demonstrate our DLE process to existing brine production in Alberta. On-going development work is being funded from E3’s existing working capital and proceeds from E3 Metals’ ongoing financing will be used to finance the construction of the pilot plant as well as to upgrade a portion of the $ 7.0 million. tonnes of lithium carbonate equivalent (LCE) deducted from the Company. mineral resources. E3 also applied for a grant from the provincial government in Alberta to finance our project to a total of CA $ 2.4 million in net income.

“This work is an important milestone in our technology development schedule, a step that will continue to position E3 Metals for success as we approach the next step – the pilot plant,” commented Chris Doornbos, President and CEO of E3 Metals Corp. “I am extremely proud of the hard work and focus demonstrated by the technical team. E3 Metals’ team of scientists and process engineers are continuing the final phase of development, seeking to complete the pilot plant, which I am delighted to see us perform next year. “
